Being a Trustee

 WHO WE ARE:
The Trustee Ministry accepts their roles and responsibilities as good stewards. The trustees are primarily responsible for the secular business affairs of the church, financial concerns, maintaining building and facilities, tracking church equipment, investments and property. They use their spiritual gifts in serving, with God being their helper and inspired by Philippians 4:13 - “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”.
The Trustee Ministry is composed of the following officers: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer with other officers added as deemed necessary.
Trustee elects officers annually; hold regular monthly meetings with call meetings as necessary; and submit written and verbal reports to the church at the regular business meeting.

FAITHFUL SERVICE:
At Mount Tabor Baptist Church, the Trustee Ministry continues the biblical tradition of faithful service with all glory and honor to God.
As a part of the spiritual lay leaders of the church of Christ, the body of the redeemed, we are responsible to provide the energy to overcome the apathy of the church and to provide the leadership needed to fulfill our purpose in life.

TRUSTEES RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Trustee Ministry is responsible for the following:
General oversight of all financial matters of the church and develop policies relating to financial matter.
Submit quarterly, annually or as other times deems necessary, detailed reports of the receipts and expenditures of the church
Oversee all matters pertaining to the church building and improvements to church property, and keep the same in good repairs and perform all duties vested in them by the church.
Act as custodians of all deeds, abstracts, title papers, contracts, and important documents of the church and shall be instructed with such other responsibilities as civil law assigns.
Sign financial contracts, deeds, transfers of stock, bank notes, and mortgages authorized by the church and allowed by state statues.
Shall have oversight over all matters concerning the Church Cemetery and Fellowship Hall.
The Trustee Ministry shall have supervision over the temporal (secular) needs of the church and performs all duties required by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia as Trustees.

TRUSTEE QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualifications for the Trustees are as the following:
Must be a member of the church in good and regular standing and of a sound business mind.
Must be an active member, in good standing, faithful, prudent, devout and of good repute.
All trustees having signature authority over church funds shall be bonded and registered with the Department of Records and Deeds.
The position of “trustee” is not a biblically mandated officer; rather, it is a practicality to aid the appropriation, maintenance, and disposition of the church property. Although trustees are not mentioned in the Bible, their role is biblically appropriate. The New Testament calls us to be good stewards of our blessings, to maintain order in the church, and to use our gifts to benefit the body. In 1st. Peter 4:10 - As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another as  good rewards of the manifold grace of God.
